Sample ID Identifier

What is a Sample ID?

A Sample ID is a unique identifier assigned to each biological sample collected from study participants. It tracks individual specimens through collection, storage, processing, and analysis.

Purpose

  • Sample Tracking: Follow samples from collection to analysis
  • Quality Control: Link results to specific sample handling conditions
  • Multiple Samples: Distinguish between multiple samples from the same participant
  • Longitudinal Studies: Track samples collected at different time points

Sample ID vs. Participant ID
