Recall Metric
What is Recall?
Recall (also called Sensitivity or True Positive Rate) measures the proportion of actual positive cases that were correctly identified.
Formula
Recall = TP / (TP + FN)
- TP: True Positives (correctly predicted positive)
- FN: False Negatives (missed positives)
Interpretation
- High Recall: Found most of the positive cases
- Low Recall: Missed many positive cases
When Recall Matters
- When missing positives is costly (e.g., disease screening)
- Cancer detection (don't want to miss any cases)
- Fraud detection (catch all fraudulent transactions)
