What is PLT?
PLT stands for Platelet Count, which measures the number of platelets in your blood. Platelets are cell fragments that help your blood clot.
Normal Range
- Adults: 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter (mcL) of blood
What Abnormal Values Mean
- Low PLT (Thrombocytopenia): May increase bleeding risk, can be caused by certain medications, autoimmune conditions, or bone marrow problems
- High PLT (Thrombocytosis): May increase clotting risk, can be caused by inflammation, infection, or bone marrow disorders
